New EP release: Straegor - Crypt of the Baleful

I am proud to announce a new first for Three Rooks Records - our first Dungeon Synth project releasing here, plus the first music from Straegor to see the light of day!

Crypt of the Baleful is an atmosphere-laden trip through dank dungeons, misty valleys and forgotten crypts, brought to life by an orchestra of layered synthesizers and more unusually - some occasional doom-metal guitar work.

Out now on the Straegor Bandcamp, Spotify and Amazon Music, coming to more digital stores soon, Crypt of the Baleful is recommended for fans of Summoning, 90's era Mortiis and Galdur.

Introducing a new project & debut release - Straegor

Greetings metalheads and misanthropes, today I'm proud to announce a new musical project joining the motley ranks of our collective.

This is UK Dungeon Synth project Straegor.

Expect atmosphere-laden analogue synth work, dark and dingy haunted castle melodies and refreshingly even some dirty guitar riffs.

Look out for the debut EP 'Crypt of the Baleful' coming to Bandcamp and digital stores on December 30th 2021!

Miseria Visage debut album 'Ritualized' streaming now!

It's been a long time coming, but we can now announce that Miseria Visage's debut album is finished and is set for release on March 31st 2019. After hearing the masters for ourselves we can definitely say it's been worth the wait as these nine epic tracks mark a huge turning point for the project in terms of production quality and a fresh new direction in composition and songwriting, heading off into less blackened, more doom and heavy metal territory, yet still with their undeniable gothic pomp.

The entirety of 'Ritualized' can already be streamed free from the Miseria Visage Soundcloud, so there's no reason not get a taste a few days before the release date.

New release - Guise is revealed!

Greetings metal connoisseurs..

Once again this year I have the pleasure of announcing a new release, this time in the form of Meister's debut EP - Guise!

Newcomers to our collective, Meister are an industrial metal three-piece hailing from the North of England. They have a knack of combining cold electronics with massive riffs in a distinctly metal way, highly recommended for fans of Samael, The Kovenant, Ministry or Nine Inch Nails, or for anyone who likes huge synth arrangements and deep vocals in their metal.

Like many other debuts on our label, Guise is 100% free to stream and download, you can grab it right here from our bandcamp page -

Reborn from out of the blackness..it's here - Koboloris remasters!

The hour is nigh! After many days slaving away in the dungeon-like studio, our audio production orc returns to his masters bearing a polished gem of rather inky blackness.."it's ready" he squawks, a subtle note of pride in his otherwise grim, raspy voice.

However, the master is nowhere to be seen, maybe he is too busy roasting some hipsters on an open fire. Just then, a gaggle of goblins from the nearby forest appear, those big pointy ears of theirs must have heard his declaration. Maybe a few of them will even download it from Bandcamp, who could possibly tell?

Koboloris remasters release date!

Friday 2nd September will be the release date for the newly remastered Koboloris debut album!

Usually there would be a long build-up of promo for these things, but we've been promising this re-release for a while now and as this band remains one of our most downloaded, we decided there was no reason to keep you guys waiting for weeks and weeks.

Just like the original release back in 2012, the remasters will be free to stream and download via our bandcamp page.

Whether you've been with us from the start or are new to Koboloris, there really is no reason not to head over there next Friday and grab the album - we guarantee its the best sounding version of this English Black Metal duo's first EP. There is even new album art which it will be our pleasure to reveal shortly.

Koboloris remasters arriving soon!

Since it's release in 2012, Koboloris's self titled debut EP has consistently been our most downloaded digital albums. Despite not having completed a new album since, support for the 2-man black metal band has not trickled to a halt, defying the laws of today's oversaturated world of digital music marketing, where an in-your-face promo plan is often required just to get any listens at all. So it strikes me, something musically must have really gone right, surely this band still has places to go, grand and grim new castles to build on the foundations of  a debut that refuses to die.

So, in order to deliver a tasty new morsel of audio delight to Koboloris fans, we are putting out a remastered edition of the debut EP!

When we recorded and produced the original back in 2012 (yes, that long ago!) production values were tight, equipment basic and experience somewhat lacking - we still made a worthy attempt, but some musical elements may have been lost in the muddy mixing and the hammer-smashed approach to mastering that went ahead. Now it is our chance to bring you the record as it should have been produced.

More details will be announced soon, with a digital release expected around the end of Summer 2016.

New artist: Meister

Its not every day that I have the pleasure of announcing a new band, but today is one of those days!

Meister is an Industrial metal band from York, England. Expect uncompromisingly heavy riffs, baritone vocals, lyrics like the darkest gothic poetry you could ever hope to stumble across, all over a backdrop of synth orchestras and cold mechanical beats. Did we mention a member of Miseria Visage is involved?!

There is no doubt that Meister marks a departure for Three Rooks, our first foot in the door with electronic music, yet at the same time there are undeniably strong metal elements to their sound.
You can keep up with the exploits of these electro-metal deviants on the Meister facebook page.

So what comes next? Meister are just about to start recording their first EP, which we will be bringing to your ears as soon as its hot from the studio! After that, its time to go on the hunt for live- perfomance opportunities, likely kicking off with club shows in their native UK, naturally we will keep you updated with all things Meister-related from now on!

Three Rooks are flying the nest..

Signs are that our long hibernation could be coming to an end. We are now committed to making 2016 the year that we once again have the chance to sort things out and get back to doing what we do best - bringing new dark and heavy music to your ears.

Our new mission is to broaden the scope of our collective with new projects and new genres, spreading our wings into Industrial, Gothic and Dark Electronic territory.

Its also been too long since we've taken on some serious studio projects. The audio production arm of Three Rooks is back, currently working hard to produce music with a fantastic new band that we will unveil soon, of course it will come as no surprise that an ex. member of Miseria Visage is involved.

However, we also want to open up the studio to other bands and projects too! It is through collaboration and combining resources as well as talent, that underground artists can best flourish and prove their artistic worth.

Stay with us - great things will be happening soon.

May We Never Forget Her Face..

Good News!

A new album from Mourning Hours is on its way. 'May We Never Forget Her Face' will be the second album-length creation by this project and already shows signs of raising the quality bar higher than ever before.

One of the things I like most about this project is the determination to carry on releasing lengthy releases and to push forward despite the difficulties faced by all non-mainstream artists, it should be an inspiration to all bands.

Here is the latest teaser video featuring the album track 'Fallen Leaves'..

I hope you will join me in looking forward to hearing the finished product!

We're back .. and we're bringing a new album with us!

Once again, Three Rooks has stirred from it's death-like slumber, and once again our musicians have been very busy behind the scenes, crafting something new and intriguing.

Back in August 2012, the project known as Mourning Hours, impressed us with the debut track
'Us & Despair', followed in September by the first self-produced full length 'A Journey From Here To Nothingness' which we released digitally.

Now, Mourning Hours is on the verge of bringing us a second full-length album, entitled 'Selfless Within'.
With recording and final mixing of the album complete, we will be handling the mastering in-house, bringing you both a digital and CDR version of Mourning Hour's most ambitious musical work yet. Check out this clip of  'Hatefornication', and you will get a taste of the new direction in which this project has evolved ..

A resurrection is planned ..

Finally, some good news! I've made plans for Three Rooks to make a return to the land of the living and re-open as something new.

I hope to be able to unveil this new incarnation, 'Three Rooks 2.0' if you will, by the end of August this year.

New features:

Artists Collective:
Rather than strictly a label, Three Rooks can be a place where similarly minded musicians can promote their work, and get their upcoming releases and news blogged about (this can include stuff they have done on other labels, or self-releases). I'd also like to make it somewhere where musicians can get together to arrange for collaborations or split releases.

Sometimes a micro-label:
Occasionally, we can act as a label for artists who want a platform for their early-days releases, mainly being for demo's and EP's, or in some cases, for albums that would otherwise be self-released.
We will keep this section small and manageable, so there will be no public submission of demo's, it will just be for the people we already know or who become part of the collective.

Distro / Shop:
The last feature to eventually arrive will be a distro / online shop. This will be linked to the main website and bandcamp. We are open to the idea of stocking mainly demo's or EP's for artists in our collective who want that feature, possibly trading with other small labels. Formats will mainly be digital or CD-based short runs of a DIY type nature, but good quality and NOT overpriced like some labels do.

_________________________________________________________________________________

I'm also pondering the idea of making a change to the actual name of the collective, perhaps 'Three Rooks Music' rather than 'records', if anyone has any thoughts on this, or the new direction in general, feel free to chip in and leave a comment on here or our facebook page / twitter.

Label closing for the time being ..

Sad news - We will be closing our doors at the end of this month, whether this is temporary or for good, depends on how things look in terms of funding.

It's better to close for a while rather than put out cheap-ass releases. It is possible we could return on a distro-only basis if the future looks more promising.

I'm committed to helping find alternative labels for artists who have their releases already booked with us (done this for some already). Massive apologies to everyone, and many thanks to those who followed us this far, I will keep this page up for prosperity for some time or in case I can start it up again.

Koboloris back in the studio!

Good news - Koboloris has returned to the studio and is working on some new material.

Any signs of this duo going in a more mellow direction have been utterly trashed! Koboloris is going back to doing what it does best - loud, uncompromising black metal, tinged with death influences and infernal melodies that will get stuck in your head and keep those horns in the air.

Visual disturbances ..

The creative mind behind Ehrlichkeit also makes pieces of moving image to his music, including this video for Anhedonia Calender Part One.
Consisting of lo-fi footage, unsettling imagery and bizarre animation, this is a new glimpse into the world behind the project.

New Music from Ehrlichkeit .. a taste of dark things to arrive this summer!

Certainly not for the feint of heart and clocking in at over 23 minutes,
this is dark atmospheric music of grandiose proportions. The new track 'Paroxysm Of Woe' is now available for streaming exclusively on the
Three Rooks Bandcamp, a taste of things to come this summer when we release Ehrlichkeit's album 'Wounds Of Smoke'. We also welcome a  new member 'Miser' on drums, whose morose beats certainly add a extra dimension to the sound.

Mourning Hours, new album progress.

A new album by Mourning Hours is on the way. As it looks right now, the new release will be 7-8 tracks in length and if progress continues at the current rate, will be ready in a few months time! We are already talking about how we are going to release this work, most likely as a limited run CD, possibly a download version too. If the two songs from Tribune of Shadow are anything to go by, it will sound better than ever, with interesting synth elements and harder-hitting drums, expect doomy, heavy guitars too.
