Reborn from out of the blackness..it's here - Koboloris remasters!

The hour is nigh! After many days slaving away in the dungeon-like studio, our audio production orc returns to his masters bearing a polished gem of rather inky blackness.."it's ready" he squawks, a subtle note of pride in his otherwise grim, raspy voice.

However, the master is nowhere to be seen, maybe he is too busy roasting some hipsters on an open fire. Just then, a gaggle of goblins from the nearby forest appear, those big pointy ears of theirs must have heard his declaration. Maybe a few of them will even download it from Bandcamp, who could possibly tell?

Koboloris remasters release date!

Friday 2nd September will be the release date for the newly remastered Koboloris debut album!

Usually there would be a long build-up of promo for these things, but we've been promising this re-release for a while now and as this band remains one of our most downloaded, we decided there was no reason to keep you guys waiting for weeks and weeks.

Just like the original release back in 2012, the remasters will be free to stream and download via our bandcamp page.

Whether you've been with us from the start or are new to Koboloris, there really is no reason not to head over there next Friday and grab the album - we guarantee its the best sounding version of this English Black Metal duo's first EP. There is even new album art which it will be our pleasure to reveal shortly.

Koboloris remasters arriving soon!

Since it's release in 2012, Koboloris's self titled debut EP has consistently been our most downloaded digital albums. Despite not having completed a new album since, support for the 2-man black metal band has not trickled to a halt, defying the laws of today's oversaturated world of digital music marketing, where an in-your-face promo plan is often required just to get any listens at all. So it strikes me, something musically must have really gone right, surely this band still has places to go, grand and grim new castles to build on the foundations of  a debut that refuses to die.

So, in order to deliver a tasty new morsel of audio delight to Koboloris fans, we are putting out a remastered edition of the debut EP!

When we recorded and produced the original back in 2012 (yes, that long ago!) production values were tight, equipment basic and experience somewhat lacking - we still made a worthy attempt, but some musical elements may have been lost in the muddy mixing and the hammer-smashed approach to mastering that went ahead. Now it is our chance to bring you the record as it should have been produced.

More details will be announced soon, with a digital release expected around the end of Summer 2016.

Koboloris back in the studio!

Good news - Koboloris has returned to the studio and is working on some new material.

Any signs of this duo going in a more mellow direction have been utterly trashed! Koboloris is going back to doing what it does best - loud, uncompromising black metal, tinged with death influences and infernal melodies that will get stuck in your head and keep those horns in the air.

So what are our artists up to?

Morodh went back into the rehearsal studio recently and are writing material for their first album-length release! You can keep up-to-date with Morodh's activities through Ragnaar's blog.

Miseria Visage is in the process of planning and collecting ideas for a new work, after only just releasing their first debut CD EP 'Vanish Into Dark' which you can get right now, from bandcamp!

Mourning Hours is currently writing music for a new album, so far we've heard some samples of work-in-progress tracks that sound great, looking forward to this one. We are planning a short run CD release for this new work. Find out more on the Mourning Hours website.

After writing some new material for our 'Tribune Of Shadow' sampler, Koboloris has taken a short break to recharge their creative energies. Now they are showing signs of a new direction, centered around a different approach to the guitar sound and drums. You can hear a sample of this on soundcloud.

Bergelmir is waiting for the right conditions to finish off recording the debut release 'Infernal Solitude', you can't rush work like this, we know when it's ready we will have some excellent raw DBM on our roster.

Hopefully we will hear more music from Koboloris soon, writing for some new material is set to continue shortly, so we will keep you updated on progress and possible release dates. Koboloris - changes to release schedule

Koboloris will no longer be releasing their second EP at the end of February, but will be moving the date of the next release to later in the year. However, there is a good chance that demo tracks and bootleg's will appear between now and their next release. We will keep you updated with the details!

15th January 2013 - 'Tribune of Shadow', 3-way promo split EP featuring Mourning Hours, Miseria Visage and Koboloris. Each artist is contributing two tracks, some unique to this release, some from upcoming releases in the near future. A taste of things to come. Free download from Bandcamp.

30th January 2013 - 'Vanish into Dark', debut EP from Miseria Visage, two versions:
Version one:  6 track audio CD, limited to 30 copies first press, on sale from the Three Rooks Official Site.
Version two: 4 track digital download from Bandcamp, name your own price.
Symphonic BM with lots of melodic twists and turns, still retaining darker, heavier moments.

27th February 2013 - ?? The second EP release from Koboloris, as yet unnamed, at least 6 tracks on audio CD limited to 30 copies first press, possibly a Bandcamp download version too. Riff driven melodic BM with a darkly epic feel and punishing rhythms. Currently being recorded and mixed.

New 3-way split release announcement!

We are proud to announce a new three-way split EP, scheduled
 for release on January 15th 2013 ..

'Tribune of Shadow' will be a three-way split between Miseria Visage, Mourning Hours and Koboloris. Each artist is contributing two tracks to this six-song EP, which will give listeners a taste of what is to come later in the year when these three projects release new music of their own.


Best of all, Tribune of Shadow will be free to download from the
Three Rooks Bandcamp and Three Rooks Records website, as a promotional EP to showcase the new works of the contributing musicians.

New Youtube channel and artist progress ..

Three Rooks Records is now on youtube! Over the next few days we will be uploading videos from all our artists, where they can be viewed on the Three Rooks Records youtube channel , content will also be updated with new promo videos, release previews and maybe even some full-on music videos at some point in the future.

Vocal recording for Koboloris's first new song since their debut EP, will start tomorrow! This track will form part of the blueprint that will make up the songs on their new longer EP which will be ready around the end of February 2013.

Miseria Visage's progress in the studio is also good, having recently finished all the guitar tracks on the debut EP 'Vanish into Dark' which will be released in January 2013.

However, before all that happens, expect the debut EP 'Infernal Solitude' from Bergelmir, a release date will be announced soon!

Koboloris - new plans and promo video!

Koboloris have started working on their next EP, with guitars and bass already recorded for their first new
song. So far, the new material is sounding closer to its black metal roots, with more emphasis on building dark guitar melodies and less on the symphonic approach of their first self-titled EP. It will be well into 2013 before the new release takes form, so for now, here is a new promo video of what we think is the best song from their debut - Astral Gate to the Infernal ...

Signs of life from Koboloris!

I'm happy to announce that recording activities have started once again for Koboloris, heralding a new time of creativity and renewal for this two-man black metal riff-machine of a project.

The new music so far is all about dense, dark layers of guitar, more of a wall of sound approach than before. Keyboards are so far being kept to a minimum, a departure from the symphonic elements of the self-titled demo EP released in August, although I anticipate the synth to resurface at some point, just not as dominant as before.

At this time, there is no date set for any new releases, nothing has really been decided, but things are moving in the right direction, songs are being written, some rough guitar and drum tracks have already been recorded, so far it's sounding good!

News from the studio & Free track!!

It's done! We have finally finished the recording and production of the Koboloris debut EP, just in time to do some promotion before the release date of August 31st. In our last session we finished off the very last track on the EP, nailing some intricate bass parts and utterly dark vocals on what is the fastest and most heavy sounding of all the songs.

To celebrate the completion of what has been our focus since March this year, we are giving you the gift of our very first track, click this link to get the free song "Lupinotuum"! On Tuesday, we (Koboloris) spent the afternoon working on some of the final production tasks before the debut EP is completed, this particular afternoon we had the small matter of goblin-vocals to attend to..

After suffering a computer virus attack, it looked like we would be up against the clock to finish the EP production, however we managed to pull the main mixing computer back from the blink of near oblivion, so only a day of mixing time was lost.

Only a couple more sessions to go and we will be all finished with production and ready to unleash the Koboloris debut EP. In the mean time, here are a couple of snaps of things in our workspace ..



4X10 cab, mainly used for resting things on, also comes in handy for recording bass out of. 

The vocal condenser mic, very handy for capturing the soul-wrenching screams of forest goblins.

Latest developments (Koboloris).

We have now switched the video side of things over to Vimeo, so the new videos for Malign Inspiration and Lupinotuum are now viewable in much better quality!

August 31st is looking likely as the date for the release of Koboloris's debut EP, featuring four tracks and to made available as a download with artwork, possibly in other formats such as CD/Tape later on.

Our production side of the operation at Three Rooks Production will be finishing up the EP soon, with two of the four tracks already mixed and mastered, the final tracks will follow shortly. We are also looking at the option of shooting a full-on music video to accompany one of the tracks from the debut release. August should be an eventful month!
